Paris Baguette Review

It’s pretty much insane that I went to the same cafe for three consecutive days. That’s right. 3 days in a row!

Located at Wisma Atria, the Korean Cafe sees long queues daily. Whether it is to buy some pastry, or to have a meal there.

You’ve probably seen this cafe in scenes from Korean drama shows, and given that everyone is more or less into the Korean trend, this cafe is probably one of the things that’s on our checklist on things to try.

Based from their website, they aim the offer the highest quality products with only the freshest ingredients.

Price wise it’s kind of steep but trust me, the portions makes the price all that worthwhile. (Hey, we all love to pay to enjoy a good meal right!)

Didn’t order any drinks due to money constraints.

Cafe staff were prompt to clean up tables so that the next customer could use it.

I was a little freaked out that there were oil stains all over the menu. Not too sure if I want to smell burger oil on the menu.

Eventually ordered a set of “Scrambled Eggs Brioche Brunch ($18)” and “Club Sandwich ($17)”

So a number tag while we wait for our food. *Bear not included*

After probably after 10 agonizing minutes of tummy growling, the food arrives!

Scrambled Eggs Brioche Brunch

Scrambled Eggs Brioche Brunch

The salad was divine! The vegetables were fresh and juicy and just the right amount of what i suspect is lemon oil, the salad is just divine even on it’s own.

Potato wedges were lightly fried. But not really a fan of potatoes. So meh :/

Scrambled Eggs! My initial thought was that it was more of a pizza. Hidden beneath the huge chunks of pepperoni, the eggs tasted milky. But when eaten together with the soft bagel, it really tasted like a breakfast fit for a king. I love how they sprinkled parsley on top.

Club Sandwich

Club Sandwich

More eggs! The egg yolk, sprinkled with a pinch of crushed pickles, was soft moist and delicious when ate together with the wholemeal bread. The bacon portions were generous and juicy.

My only complain about the sandwich was that the chicken breast was a bit too dry for my liking.

CONCLUSION

Oh, the food makes you coming back for more. But what turns most people off, is still the price. But after trying out the food, I’ve come the the conclusion that the portions are pretty much justifiable on the price. Even though it is a cafe setting, but the food are slightly inclined towards the fine dining.

I believe they lived up to their promise of delivering high quality food, by using the freshest ingredients.

Ratings : 3.8★/5★

Why 3.8?!

This is due to the fact that I’ve not tried their range of coffee drinks yet, and the slight demerit points due to the steep prices. But it’s a great place to enjoy good food if you’re within the vicinity of Wisma Atria.

Brown and Cony’s love story

Can’t get Kimberley Chen’s “愛你” out of my head, thus ended up merging the song together with these adorable stickers from Naver Line. Hope you guys like it even though I’m lazy to do the full song! 🙂

Can we love just by mere appearance?

Image

Can we really love who we do not really know about, other than their appearances?

Go to any shopping mall, chances is that there’s a young teenage couple dating and probably in school uniform. Aside the fact that it could be too young to be dating, there’s a chance that the guy or the girl is cute looking. Now what do we really look for in the language of love?

Like any hot blooded teenager, we fall for those whose appearance could make your heart melt in an instant. Never mind if you have never talked to that person before, but deep down you know that you love that person for their cute looks. And that’s how most puppy-love relationships start (ended as well).

Everyone loves a pretty face, whether we know that person or not. Take for example, a fanatic chasing their K-Pop idols. You may not know much about his/her background knowledge, but all you need to know is that he may have that ditzy smile, 6 pecs that make u ogle or the voice that brings out your shrieks and screams. Is this really love? You love that particular idol, most of the time due to their quirky nature or that irresistible face that makes your heart go thumpity thump.

Put this in the context of your other half. Do you love him / her for their looks only? Have you really know more about them that made your love for them stronger over time? By loving them just by looking at the cute face on a daily basis, you’re just waddling in the waters of love. You haven’t uncovered the true meaning of love yet. You can’t expect that cute face to remain cute throughout. Would you dump him/her when they’ve become old and ugly?

Take a time out. Hear each other out once in a while. Understand each other better. Confide in each other when you’re feeling down. There’s more to a person than just a pretty face, and there’s more to love than just an appearance sake.

Love deeply.

Our ever diminishing hawker foods

Image

Hawker food, like this plate of fried carrot cake, may be a thing of the past in Singapore in the near future.Singapore’s ever changing landscape throughout the years has improved drastically. Thus, more people have at least a certain level of education before starting out to work, unlike the old days where it was more of a labor job.

In the past, education was more of a luxury than a necessity. Thus, people might start their own business, such as owning a small convenience shop or just selling food by the roadside. With stalls selling food sprouting around Singapore at roadsides, wide arrays of food could be found. Over time, they would hone their culinary skills, tweaking their recipes so as to sell the perfect bowl of bak chor mee or laksa for example. Thus, everyone might have a particular liking towards that particular stall. It could be of sentimental value such as the first date there. Other times, it could simply cause the food was just that good. When word spread that someone is selling something delicious, everyone would flock to try it. This trend still carries on as of currently.

However over time, when Singapore’s economy became stronger, education became more of a necessity rather than luxury now. What their forefathers and ancestors might have proved to be a successful formula, by selling that perfect bowl of food, might not be able to survive in this current economical state. The high cost of perishable goods, weight-conscious people, direct competition are just some examples why the current generation do not want to take over the reins of their family’s hawker business. Furthermore, they might not want to slog it out from dawn to dusk preparing ingredients and doing countless cleaning everyday. This is why some people would rather be working an office job, probably earning more than what they could earn by selling hawker food.

The rise of fast food, sprawling in every parts of the island, may tempt us to grab a quick bite at their outlets due to the hectic lifestyle. Whereas life was more laid back during the early days of Singapore. Everyone is rushing off to somewhere, heading to work, attending that important meeting or clinching that special deal that finding a hawker centre to have a meal might be hard too.

We should preserve our hawker heritage such as the Hainanese chicken rice or fried carrot cake, for the people of the future might not even have the chance to savour Singapore’s local delicacy.

Korea, the land of make-up

If you’re into Korean music, dramas etc, then you would know what’s the in-thing from the land of Kimchi.

With so many pretty faces on screen, one has that tendency to dress up nicer and be fashionably up-to-date. After several “brainwash” sessions from our favorite Korean programs, we would slowly be inclined to look just like that.

One may not be born with a pretty face, but for sure the Korean skincare industry has came out with several products to block and at least cover up impurities from our faces.

Behold, the BB cream!

BB cream, or blemish balm, was created by Dr. Christine Schrammek during the 1960s to protect her patients’ skin after surgery treatments. It was introduced to the South Korean markets from the mid 1980s, where celebrities shamelessly promote them to show off their fresh, clear skin.

Image

The one I’m using one can be purchased from The Face Shop. Currently being endorsed by Kim Hyun-Joong. I was apprehensive with regards using products like these as I’ve stereotyped these type of products just as a “ladies-only” item. What started out as a ladies facial accessory slowly started to influence a male following.

What’s BB Cream?

What seemed like a makeup accessory, BB cream does have it list of advantages too. You might have noticed it blocks sunrays with a certain degree of SPF, the higher the number, the better it is to block out sunrays from the face. It is great for covering those ugly acne scars. Normally found in two shades of color, Light or Dark Biege. However, each product’s color is a little, thus it’s better to test out on your hands and rubbing it out to test the shade of the BB cream. Now what I’m stating are the basic essentials found in BB creams, there’s a whole lot more out there in the market. Some has whitening features, waterproof (i find this rather important especially if you’re the type that sweats alot!) and oil blockage (though I’m skeptical of this).

Why Use BB Cream?

The magnetic pull of having a fresh, clear skin was too tempting. It was also a great way to cover up my horrible acne scars, especially if I’m heading to town (Oh Gosh, I’m getting too vain).

I would love to hear what would guys have to say about using this product. Do leave your comments below!

What has Hello Kitty and Love got to do with each other?

Image

Some of you may have recalled queuing up one week ago to get your hands on this “limited edition” Singin Bone Hello Kitty.

It created quite a ruckus among most citizens, who like me, did not get their hands on it.

Now what does this whole Hello Kitty fiasco got to do with love you might ask?

Honeymoon Period

-When you’re happily in love, the first few months of a new relationship would normally be termed as the “Honeymoon Period”. That’s whereby you treat each other lovey-dovey and all, showing affections openly and frequently throughout each and every single day.

Now what has this got to do with Hello Kitty you might ask.

-To put it simply, you are mesmerized by this kitten that you have to get your hands on this “limited edition” kitten. And once you’ve purchased it, cherish and play with it (tho many are looking to make a quick buck out of it). For the first few days after obtaining this sacred kitty, you will be overly obsessed with this toy, whether as a keepsake or a form of profit.

Stagnant Period

When the honeymoon period has and will eventually fade away, comes a time whereby love becomes stagnant and very dull. The messages have stopped and the romantic actions of your other half may be gone. So what’s your next step? Salvage this relationship or let it fade into oblivion?

Let’s go into the future say 6 months down the road, where will your “limited edition” Singin Bone Hello Kitty be? Will you still cherish it as much as that very moment when you queued 2~3 hours just to obtain it? Will your affection for that kitty fade off?

In life and in love, after that euphoric moment comes a downtime. Life is not always smooth going. But you are the master of your fate. You can treat each day as a challenge to maintain that level of love towards your other half and not let it fade away. The same theory applies to this Hello Kitty example. We may not play it as much a few months later, but we might keep it near us (on a tablestand,on the bed) to remind us how crazy we were to collect this kitty,

Those honeymoon periods may come and go. But the challenge is how do you maintain it?

24 hours. Some may find it too short, while

24 hours.

Some may find it too short, while others might find it too long.Take away 7 hours of sleeping time and you’re left with

17 hours.

At the end of this 17 hours, have you achieved something meaningful before ending your day?

Have you told that special someone you loved him / her?
Have you promised to start your diet and be fit?

At the end of each day, ask yourself.

“How meaningful did you end off the day with”

Cherish Life.
