Korea, the land of make-up

If you’re into Korean music, dramas etc, then you would know what’s the in-thing from the land of Kimchi.

With so many pretty faces on screen, one has that tendency to dress up nicer and be fashionably up-to-date. After several “brainwash” sessions from our favorite Korean programs, we would slowly be inclined to look just like that.

One may not be born with a pretty face, but for sure the Korean skincare industry has came out with several products to block and at least cover up impurities from our faces.

Behold, the BB cream!

BB cream, or blemish balm, was created by Dr. Christine Schrammek during the 1960s to protect her patients’ skin after surgery treatments. It was introduced to the South Korean markets from the mid 1980s, where celebrities shamelessly promote them to show off their fresh, clear skin.

The one I’m using one can be purchased from The Face Shop. Currently being endorsed by Kim Hyun-Joong. I was apprehensive with regards using products like these as I’ve stereotyped these type of products just as a “ladies-only” item. What started out as a ladies facial accessory slowly started to influence a male following.

What’s BB Cream?

What seemed like a makeup accessory, BB cream does have it list of advantages too. You might have noticed it blocks sunrays with a certain degree of SPF, the higher the number, the better it is to block out sunrays from the face. It is great for covering those ugly acne scars. Normally found in two shades of color, Light or Dark Biege. However, each product’s color is a little, thus it’s better to test out on your hands and rubbing it out to test the shade of the BB cream. Now what I’m stating are the basic essentials found in BB creams, there’s a whole lot more out there in the market. Some has whitening features, waterproof (i find this rather important especially if you’re the type that sweats alot!) and oil blockage (though I’m skeptical of this).

Why Use BB Cream?

The magnetic pull of having a fresh, clear skin was too tempting. It was also a great way to cover up my horrible acne scars, especially if I’m heading to town (Oh Gosh, I’m getting too vain).

I would love to hear what would guys have to say about using this product. Do leave your comments below!
